Mysoulium is designed as a program to be replicated, one that can grow and develop as a network, each unique to its environment and communities. Mysoulium weaves together green burial design with the support of an end of life doula to create a more holistic approach to death, burial, and the grieving process. The unifying experience of life is the certainty of death, yet our modern “standard” dying and burial practices are impersonal, medicalized, and often isolating. Modern cemeteries use ecologically devastating practices, with thousands of pounds of steel, cement, chemicals and mined stone buried alongside our loved ones. Similarly, the dying process often leaves the individual who is passing, as well as their loved ones, feeling overwhelmed, lost and alone. With a focus on developing a relationship with the land, providing space for those experiencing grief, and adhering to the highest standard of green burial, Mysoulium aims to revolutionize end of life care.
